I’m not sure that data even exists in a publicly compiled form. So I’m curious to know if anyone has seen actual data on whether there’s a significant market demand for short, fat, female druids outside of the traditional Tolkein-esque dwarf archetype. They shouldn’t be spending time developing options there’s little demand for. They still need to be responsive to what their customers actually want. A AAA studio has a large budget for sure, but it’s not infinite. Those are limited resources, and if you have to hire a legion of artists to accommodate all of the demands for the latest fashion, those funds aren’t being used to pay for other priorities. The issue with that is that each option you add is development time and money. We hear the argument that we can just offer it as an option. It leads to making policy to placate the tiny minority at the expense of the rest. We simply have that impression because the loud people consume all the attention by complaining and making a lot of noise. ![]() ![]() We hear loud voices screaming and demanding things and it doesn’t always represent what the community at large wants. They wanted to play attractive characters. I certainly remember WoW’s Burning Crusade expansion where suddenly half of the Horde rolled Blood Elves because people didn’t want to play the fat, ugly characters. I’d be interested to see survey data on just how much of the market among gamers actually wants the various customization options that get chosen.
